Welcome to a new school year. I know I was this excited to come back to school today:
We had a busy first day in Classroom 4/5 M. We started our day off by putting away our supplies. We have shared bins for duotangs, scribblers, pencils, glue sticks, and erasers, and the students have their desk and individual bins for other items. We also share loose-leaf and graphing paper, ziplox bags, and kleenex. This year, the students also have lockers directly outside of our classroom. This is where students will be keeping their backpacks, jackets, etc. Outdoor shoes go on the racks beside our entrance. It is the students’ responsibility to keep the bins and desks neat and tidy throughout the year.
Afterwards, we went over the following slideshow, which introduced students to myself and our classroom.
After discussing our classroom expectations and procedures, we played some games to help us to better get to know one another. We played a small board game and also completed something called an “Ice Cream Social” in order to get to know one another better.
Students were also able to check out a book from the classroom library today. Students are allowed to borrow up to two books a week, and they are allowed to take books home for home reading if they are signed out correctly.
Finally, we had our welcome back assembly today to introduce all of the students to the entire staff, as well as our mascot Timmy the Timberwolf.
