Light and Shadows

We had already begun our study of Light and Shadows before being evacuated. With each science unit of study, where possible we place an emphasis on students’ using Science Inquiry. Inquiry is the process of finding answers to questions. The skills of science inquiry include: asking questions, proposing ideas, observing, experimenting, and interpreting the evidence that is gathered. Observation and evidence are key elements. Completing any science unit without being able to engage in activities and events that allow for observation and inquiry to occur, make it difficult for students to gain full understanding or to practice and solidify important skills. That being said, below you will find a slideshow that provides basic information about each of the Specific Learner Expectations for this unit. I have also provided a link to the Black Gold Regional Schools – Engaging Students webpage for this unit. The resources provided on this webpage may allow students the ability to explore the topic further, through experiment and project ideas, activities, and digital resources.
