#GRAFIAT – Chs. 1-8

This week we started our Global Read Aloud Book – Fish in a Tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt. After reading the first chapter, we started to discuss some of the words that Ally uses to describe these words: “dumb,” “weird,” “a pain,” “stupid,” “humiliated.” Many of us decided that these words were really powerful but very negative. We talked about the importance of self-talk and decided to come up with some positive powerful words to describe ourselves. Check out our “I Am…” poems below (original idea fromĀ The Teacher Life – 10/20/2012). Then we decided that we would send some positive words to some other Global Read Aloud Readers. We made some postcards to mail. On our postcards, we’ve also included something that we’ve learned so far from readingĀ Fish in A Tree. Photos of our Art and postcards are below.
