Did You Know…? Giant camels existed around 100,000 bc. They were twice the size of modern camels – twelve feet tall.

Today will be a quick post focused on sharing some of the upcoming events and activities taking place at our school. First, on February 3rd at 1:00 pm our school will once again be participating in Winter Walk. This year we have decided to keep it within school grounds, so we’ll be walking around our school field. Following our walk we will be taking a school photo! Parents who would like to join us for our Winter Walk are more than welcome. Let me know through the student Agendas or through email and I will send you more information about where to meet our class, etc. Students will need to come to school dressed appropriately to be spending the afternoon outside on February 3rd. Come prepared with jackets, snow pants, hats, and mittens just in case!
Secondly, we will be hosting a Spirit Week next week as a fundraiser for the Center of Hope. Timberlea is proud to be working with the Center of Hope on their Raise the Roof Campaign to raise awareness for homelessness in Fort McMurray. We will be hosting a Spirit Week February 1st through 5th to raise money and supplies needed by the Center of Hope. A full schedule of the week’s events as well as the daily themes/donation items can be found below. I would like to emphasize our Toque Tuesday Assembly taking place on February 2nd. On this day we invite students to bring $2 for the Center of Hope and to wear a hat or toque to celebrate. We will also be having a school wide assembly hosted by some special guests as well as Mayor Blake. Students who ordered Raise the Roof merchandise will receive it in time to wear to the assembly on Tuesday.
Finally, our class has decided to take part in National Cupcake Day on February 29th. This is an annual fundraiser for the SPCA. Our students are going to be baking and selling APPLE School appropriate items such as muffins and popcorn. We will have a classroom meeting next week to finalize our action plan and then I will send home more information to parents. Below is the registration information from the SPCA. Parents who would be interested in baking something at home or who would be able to volunteer some time to help us bake some items at school, please let me know through the student Agendas or by email and I will make sure to contact you next week when we are finalizing our plans. Thank you everyone! Everyday I am feel more and more strongly that 4/5M is an amazing class to be a part of; with excited, energetic, and caring students!
